ヘフナー・500-1
平成2年。
バブル景気に沸く日本は、ローリングストーンズが初来日、
ポールマッカートニーもソロ初来日するなど、ロックブームの真っ只中でした。
平成2年のモチーフには、カール・ヘフナー社の「ヘフナー・500-1」を取り上げています。 このベースは、ポールマッカートニーが愛用したことで有名です。 左利きのポールにとって、この左右対称のデザインのベースがぴったりだったとのこと。
元々はギターやピアノを担当していたポールでしたが、 1961年にスチュアート・サトクリフが初期のビートルズから脱退したことをきっかけに、 半ば強制的にベースを担当させられました。 1961年4月、スチュアートがビートルズ脱退を決意したハンブルグ巡業中に、 ポールは楽器店でたまたまこのヘフナーのベースと出会います。 今やビートルズの代名詞であるベースボーカルも、ここからスタートしたのでした。
平成2年のソロ来日コンサート「Get Back Tour in Japan」東京ドーム公演。 セットリストの16曲目に歌われたThis Oneを、ポールはこのヘフナーのバイオリンベースで演奏したそうです。 （ただ、61年型の初代ヘフナーは、1969年に盗難にあっており、初代モデルではないようです。）
タグデザインは、ポールマッカートニーに合わせ、 左利き仕様にピックガードを取り付けたヘフナー・500-1をイメージして描いています。 背景には、ベースのボディと馴染む黄色系統の色を利用しています。 なぜ、黄色にしたかについては、特段理由はありあません。
